Restarting In Nightfall
Okay, my ranger is level 14 (R/Mo) and has currently just reached Beacon's after the Frost Gate mission. After an odd day today I had gotten ran to Droknar's Forge and bought myself the 1k Druid set (male), which I now think looks very ugly.
Basically, I feel very disorganized and like I need a fresh start. I have a level 20 Rt/N, and am not very far into the game with that one. I've always liked the look of the NF ranger I could create, much more-so than my current Prophecies ranger. I also feel the non-boring and non-confusing storyline of NF would be better than the Prophecies one, and it allows me to level to 20 at a rather decent pace. I felt the Factions leveling was too fast, yet the Prophecies leveling is so slow and boring.
Now, my main concern with this is (1, starting over (though 14 levels isn't so bad), and 2) I play a Beast Master, and like having a cat-type pet, which the melandru's stalker provides. In my limited time with NF, it seemed there were only pigs, though my guild says you can get a lion early on.
My end-of-the-road goal is to have a level 20 ranger with Norn armor (I have all but EotN), with many skills, a few titles, and a level 20 pet I can run with. I would like to have a cat or bird-type pet, and I prefer the looks of a NF ranger compared to my current Tyrian one.
I am very sleepy right now so I hope this post is clear and concise, but I would like some input on this, advice whether or not restarting my ranger would be a good idea. I have a couple platinum to go off of, but nothing much in the way of weapons. I will probably make my decision by the time I wake up and read everyone's comments.
Thank you all for your time reading this and more praise for answering my thread! I also assume this belongs in the Ranger forum, though I'm not 100%.
EDIT: I went to Drok's because a friend said it was a good idea, but I honestly had no idea what I was doing, and I feel like I'm racing too far ahead, which is why I feel I need a fresh start. I've had this game for awhile, but I haven't played much since a week or two ago, so I know very little about things.
EDIT2: I also feel /Mo was a mistake, I never use it and I really never care to be full-blown healer. Being a BM/MM using R/N would be interesting but energy intensive, though I doubt I'll use my secondary regardless. I know I can change later on, but I would like to be ahead with my secondary profession from off the bat.

Nightfall levelling is in between the two. Factions is really fast, true, and for anyone who started with Factions, Prophecies seems extremely slow. Nightfall is a good balance.

Istan you can get Flamingos and probably warthogs. You can also get Crocodiles when you reach Lahtenda Bog.
If you wait until level 10 you can travel to Eye of the North where you can cap Polar Bears, Eagles, Wolves... or when you get to Consulate Docks you can travel to Lion's Arch and Kaineng, and travel back to Ascalon or Shing Jea to cap Stalkers, Lynx or Tigers.
Lions are available in Kourna: The area you enter after you complete Consulate Docks and leave the starter island.

Perhaps you can keep your current Ranger and start a new one? If the new one doesn't work out how you planned, delete, and go back to your lvl 14 Prophecies ranger. The thing about Prophecies is as soon as you get to Lion's Arch you can stroll over to Cantha, do a few Kaineng Centre quests and be level 20 in no time at all.

Some people get Ran to Droknar's Forge because they want max armor at level 2 for some strange reason. Good on you for wanting to play the game properly. There is, however, no reason why you can't just ignore the fact that Droknar's Forge is on the map and play through Prophecies normally.

If you start in Nightfall, Packhunter is definitely the way forwards for Beastmasters. It can pack in some nice sustained DPS. Requires the secondary to be Paragon, and a sample Packhunter build can be found in the stickied Ranger Guide, amongst other places. Note, however, that it does require a fair few Factions skills to make it worthwhile, but as far as choosing a Nightfall secondary goes, Paragon is very nice for Ranger primary.

For most people, the /Mo is just for the "hard" rez (Rebirth, etc.), not so you can be a healer in any sense. It's perfectly fine to play your ranger without using any skills from any secondary.

I went trough this same problem with my female Ranger, and made the difficult decision of deleting her last week. She was from NF and I never really liked the way she looked, but i kept on playing her and even though i beat all 3 campaigns with her, i never got used to her looks. So i deleted her and started over with a Prophecies Ranger. Even though the leveling was tendious, I don't regret it because I enjoy looking at her way more then my older one.
My advice to you is that if you don't like the way he looks now, you still wont 5 thousand hours later. Just do it !

The only reason prophesies is boring and confusing is because you got ran places and didn't watch the cutscenes. Nightfall is boring because the entire continent except for the last 3 hours of the game is a desert.
Sure, sounds cool
then it's not, after doing so many stupid quests and running through the same areas, I can officially say nightfall was my least like campaign.

You say that you can level fairly fast in NF OP. You sir are wrong. You have to get to level 12 in order to progress before Jokanur Diggings, and that ends up requiring grinding to get. I know for a fact that you only get to level 8-10 doing ALL of the quests. To each his own.

I think it's Level 12 or r6 Sunspear title.
Anyway, i'm a vain player, if i don't like my character and prefer another look i'm the first guy to delete him/her for a better looking character, so my advice is - if you don't like the appearence, get rid of him and make one that floats your boat so you're happy with playing it.
As far the campaign input, well. Nightfall yes certainly is the 'mediocre' paced campaign of the three. I personally don't like the beginning of Nightfall, but if it's what you think you'd like, go for it. But, and this is a big but...i'd say keep your current ranger like Celestial Beaver suggested JUST INCASE the new ranger you make doesn't work out. If it does work out or you have complete faith in your new ranger, delete your current one. Always nice to have a free character slot.
I'd also say the Packhunter build is a good way to go.
Good luck & have fun.

It's level 12 or r4. I've never had a problem making it to First Spear by that time, just by taking bounties and doing most of the quests.

Try playing without the maximum number of heroes/henchmen. The starter island is insanely easy, and this will guarantee that you'll make level 12 without having to grind one iota.
